Arjun Erigaisi wins Abu Dhabi Masters
Consecutive wins in the final two rounds handed Arjun Erigaisi the Abu Dhabi Masters title on August 25. He defeated top seed Wang Hao in the eighth round before stopping David Anton, the ninth seed, in the next in 67 moves.
Arjun performed at a 2■93 level and earned 22 rating points. As per the rankings on August 29, Arjun is placed at a career-best 24th and third — behind Viswanathan Anand (12th) and D. Gukesh (23rd) — among Indians.
He collected USD 15,000 as prize money.
