In the last week of April this year, Em­braer’s brand new E190-E2 com­pleted its first rev­enue flight with launch cus­tomer Widerøe. The air­craft bear­ing reg­is­tra­tion LN-WEA and op­er­ated as flight WF622 from Ber­gen air­port to Tromsø Air­port. The flight marks the en­try into ser­vice of the first of Em­braer’s three new E-jets. The de­liv­er­ies of the larger E195-E2 are planned to start in 2019 and the smaller E175E2 in 2021. John Slat­tery, Pres­i­dent & CEO, Em­braer Com­mer­cial Avi­a­tion said,

“This is a truly his­toric day for the EJets pro­gramme and for Em­braer, The first rev­enue flight is the crown­ing achieve­ment of years of hard work and plan­ning. I know Widerøe’s cus­tomers are go­ing to love fly­ing on a such a green air­plane.” Stein Nilsen, Pres­i­dent & CEO, Widerøe

said, “To­day, we are cel­e­brat­ing the be­gin­ning of a new era for Widerøe. It is the first jet in our fleet and we will al­ways have the dis­tinc­tion of be­ing the first air­line to fly the E2. We see a bright fu­ture with our new E2 jets.” Widerøe will take delivery of two more E190-E2s this year and holds pur­chase rights for an ad­di­tional 12 E2s.
