Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has flown the final operational configuration of the Mirage 2000H fighter it is upgrading. The upgraded aircraft will provide additional capabilities including the integration of Indian-specific weapons, sensors and EW system.
India is likely to place an order with HAL for an additional 32 AJTs costing about ` 3,500 crore (about $0.53 billion) deal to meet the requirements of the Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy. Out of these, the Indian Navy has a requirement for about eight additional Hawks to train fighter pilots for the MiG-29K fleet, the Indian Air Force requires additional planes for its Surya Kiran aerobatic team.
