AFGHANISTAN

Un­der a For­eign Mil­i­tary Sales (FMS) for $38.43 mil­lion con­tract mod­i­fi­ca­tion, MD Heli­copters will pro­vide Afghanistan for per­for­mance based, con­trac­tor-man­aged op­er­a­tions to sup­port sys­tems readi­ness. This will in­clude ma­te­rial man­age­ment, tech­ni­cal data man­age­ment, re­pair etc for the MD 530F, which is a leg­endary light util­ity he­li­copter and gun­ship. Work is es­ti­mated to be com­pleted by Novem­ber 2018.

BAE SYS­TEMS

Ac­cord­ing to BAE Sys­tems, Qatar will make the first down pay­ment for the pro­cure­ment of 24 Typhoons and nine Hawk Ad­vanced Jet Trainer air­craft in the third quar­ter of 2018.

BELL BOE­ING JPO

Bell Boe­ing JPO, Texas, has been awarded $4,19,15,33,822 for mod­i­fi­ca­tion to con­vert the pre­vi­ously awarded V-22 tilt ro­tor air­craft ad­vance ac­qui­si­tion con­tract to a fixed-price-in­cen­tive-fee mul­ti­year con­tract to pro­vide for the man­u­fac­ture and de­liv­ery of 39 CMV-22B air­craft for the US Navy; 34 MV-22B air­craft for the US Ma­rine Corps; one CV-22B for the US Air Force; and four MV-22B air­craft for the Gov­ern­ment of Ja­pan un­der FMS. Work is ex­pected to be com­pleted in Novem­ber 2024.

BOE­ING

The Boe­ing Com­pany, St. Louis, Mis­souri, has been awarded an un­defini­tised con­tract ac­tion un­der FMS with a not-to-ex­ceed value of $17,90,00,000 to pro­cure sys­tem con­fig­u­ra­tion set H12K for the Kuwait Air Force con­fig­ured F/A-18E/F air­craft soft­ware devel­op­ment, mod­i­fi­ca­tion, in­te­gra­tion and test­ing. Work is ex­pected to be com­pleted in Septem­ber 2022.

BOM­BARDIER

On June 20 this year, Bom­bardier Com­mer­cial Air­craft has an­nounced that Delta Air Lines, Inc of At­lanta, Ge­or­gia has signed a firm pur­chase agree­ment for 20 CRJ900 air­craft. Based on the list price for the CRJ900 air­craft, the firm or­der is val­ued at ap­prox­i­mately $961 mil­lion. De­liv­ery is ex­pected by late 2018.

EM­BRAER

Em­braer is re­port­edly on the verge of com­plet­ing a deal with Por­tu­gal con­firm­ing the coun­try as the first ex­port cus­tomer for the KC-390 tanker trans­port. It comes just over a year af­ter Por­tu­gal opened ne­go­ti­a­tions to buy five KC-390s, with an op­tion for a sixth, with de­liv­er­ies start­ing in 2021.

EU­RO­PEAN UNION

The Eu­ro­pean Union (EU) pro­poses in­vest­ing €16 bil­lion (about $18.56 bil­lion) dur­ing the pe­riod 2021-2027 to fur­ther en­hance Eu­rope’s lead­er­ship in space. This new space pro­gramme, with a bud­get 50 per cent higher than that of the pre­vi­ous seven-year pe­riod, will re­in­force the EU
