FLIR Sys­tems has se­cured an or­der to sup­ply TacFLIR land sur­veil­lance cam­era sys­tems for the US Army. Val­ued at $74.7m, the or­der re­quires the com­pany to de­liver sur­veil­lance cam­eras in sup­port of the US Army’s EO/IR-Force Pro­tec­tion (FP) pro­gramme. The pro­gramme seeks to pro­vide im­proved perime­ter se­cu­rity and force pro­tec­tion for the US troops sta­tioned around the world, such as Iraq and Afghanistan.

Deliveries un­der the deal are ex­pected to be­gin later this year, with planned com­ple­tion within one year. The con­tract ex­pands the use of FLIR sta­bilised sur­veil­lance sys­tems for the EO/IR-FP pro­grammes, FLIR stated. FLIR’s TacFLIR is avail­able in three ver­sions, in­clud­ing TacFLIR 380HD, TacFLIR 280-HD and TacFLIR 230. To date, FLIR has de­liv­ered more than 1,000 EO / IR sen­sors to the US Army as part of this pro­gramme to sup­port the safety of US forces and those of al­lies, in­clud­ing a va­ri­ety of sys­tems. Ear­lier this year, FLIR se­cured an $8.8m con­tract as part of the same pro­gramme to de­liver other FLIR Ranger radars.
