COMMISSIONING OF INSHORE PATROL VESSEL ICGS RAJDHWAJ
The eighth inshore patrol vessel ICGS Rajdhwaj, designed and built by the Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers, Kolkata, was commissioned at Chennai on December 11, 2013, by G.K. Vasan, Union Minister of Shipping, in the presence of Vice Admiral A.G. Thapliyal, Director General Indian Coast Guard and other senior dignitaries. The 50-metre IPV is equipped with the most advanced and sophisticated navigational and communication sensors and equipment. The ship has a maximum speed of 31.5 knots (about 58 kmph), economical speed of 14 knots (26 kmph), endurance of 1,500 nautical miles (about 2,778 km), indigenously-built 30mm gun mount with fire control system.
