In­dian Navy ships Tir, Su­jata, Shardul, and ICGS Sarathi Vis­ited Jakarta, In­done­sia from Oc­to­ber 18 to 22, 2017. The visit aimed to ex­pose the trainees to the con­duct of In­dian Navy war­ship in for­eign wa­ters, port fa­mil­iari­sa­tion and fos­ter bridges of friend­ship be­tween the two coun­tries. The ships be­long to the First Train­ing Squadron of the In­dian Navy func­tion­ing un­der the South­ern Naval Com­mand, head­quar­tered at Kochi.

The In­dian Navy has im­parted train­ing to in­ter­na­tional trainees for more than four decades, wherein ap­prox­i­mately 13,500 per­son­nel from over 40 coun­tries have been trained. Presently seven of­fi­cers from In­done­sia are un­der­go­ing var­i­ous Ab-ini­tio to advanced cour­ses at SNC.
