PAK­ISTAN NAVY TO AC­QUIRE FOUR ADACLASS CORVETTE

The Pak­istan Navy is set to boost its fleet with four Ada-class corvettes. The ships are pro­duced by a con­sor­tium of Turk­ish de­fense con­trac­tors. The Ada-class has been de­vel­oped for Turkey’s Mil­gem na­tional warship de­vel­op­ment project with the aim to de­sign and build lo­cally a fleet of hi-tech stealth mul­ti­pur­pose corvettes and frigates that will re­place older ships which are cur­rently in ser­vice. At present no de­tails re­gard­ing the corvette or the cost is avail­able ex­pect that two of the ships will be built at Turkey’s Is­tan­bul Ship­yard while the re­main­ing two will be con­structed in Pak­istan’s south­ern port city of Karachi. It is un­der­stood that the fully-loaded dis­place­ment will be plus 2,032 tonnes with the usual ar­ma­ment of 76mm gun, tor­pe­does, anti-ship mis­siles and close-in weapon sys­tem.
