You have been a fine actress in all the films you have done. It would be good to know, as a seasoned actress yourself, who you think is that one promising actor or actress from the current crop, who will make it big in Bollywood? Vikrant Rana, (Indore)
RATNA PATHAK SHAH: There are a lot of very interesting actors, in theatre and in films. At the moment it does look promising. I wouldn’t like to pick any one person, but I find that generally, the level of performance has gotten pumped up. On stage, which is what I watch much more, I find there are a variety of really good actors. There’s Pooja Swaroop, who is probably one of the best actresses in this country at this moment. There is Namit Das, Anand Tiwari, and Neil Bhoopalam, who are fantastic; there is Kalki (Koechlin) and Konkana (Sen Sharma) who straddle both, films and theatre, and these are the people I have great hope in as actors. I think they will develop as actors. Among the current mainstream cinema lot, I think Alia Bhatt who I have seen a bit of, and who I see has potential, may make a good actress if she doesn’t get lost along the way. Nawazuddin Siddiqui is a great find. Sad to call him a find when he has been around so long, but for me, he is a revelation. I am totally blown by him. He is so good in everything he does. There are many things to look forward to.
