KOREA: SHIMA SEIKI EXHIBITS INNOVATIONS AT ‘PREVIEW IN SEOUL’ TRADE SHOW
Shima Seiki, a Japan-based computerized knitting machinery developer, showcased its innovations together with its Korean subsidiary Shima Seiki Korea Inc. at ‘Preview in SEOUL’ trade show.
The exhibition was held from August 28-30 in Seoul, Korea.
At the 3- day event, Shima Seiki displayed its SDS- ONE APEX3 3D design system and knit samples made on its WHOLEGARMENT knitting machine.
According to the company, the combination of its APEX3 and WHOLEGARMENT technology allows manufacturers to produce garments without sewing/ linking operation and provides them with maximum flexibility in the knitting supply chain.
The ‘ Total Fashion System’ concept of SDS- ONE APEX3 3D design system is designed to support the apparel supply chain with its virtual sampling feature. The concept facilitates the users with an opportunity to improve the design and evaluation process. Equipped with ultrarealistic simulation capability, the system helps in significant reduction in time, cost and material spent during the sample-making process, ultimately reducing the lead time wasted in sample approvals.
Furthermore, APEX3 is synchronized with ‘STAF’ ( Shima Trend Archive And Forecast), which is a new web-based fashion service of Shima Seiki. The STAF covers a stock of data of last 50 years related to fashion and its trends. This data will assist the fashion industry people to organize their planning, design process and presentation, claims Shima Seiki.
“Our technology is dedicated to the rapidly changing consumer trends as they are pretty much inclined towards digital purchasing. This evolving scenario has changed the requirements of the supply chain as demand for short turnaround and mass customization is increasing,” explains Shima Seiki.
