USA: A&E introduces water-repellency feature in its threads
American & Efird (A&E), the US-based manufacturer of sewing threads and industrial yarns, has introduced an enhancement feature in its threads. Dubbed REPEL, an advanced water-repellency enhancement, it is an additional feature which can be applied to the company’s sewing threads.
REPEL is compatible with Perma Core®, D-Core®, Wildcat Plus®, Perma Spun® and Excell product lines as well as other apparel and non-apparel thread and specialty yarn products which the company manufactures. The new feature can enhance the functionality of backpacks, footwear, athleticwear, uniforms, and workwear. It is pertinent to mention here that the enhancement will not, in any case, affect the colour of the product.
The major motivation behind the introduction of REPEL was to meet the customer’s current and future expectations and in turn support manufacturers, retailers, and brands. Supporting the same, Chris Alt, Senior Vice President Sales, A&E quoted, “REPEL is an example of smart innovation as A&E continues to expand the boundaries of what performance sewing threads can do through the development of advanced and thoughtful products.”
Under testing standards, REPEL has been 3rd party tested on seam and meets rain test method: ISO 22958-2005 (OR AATCC 61). Moreover, free of perfluorocarbons (PFC-free), the REPEL feature will have A&E’s PFCZERO™ certification. PFC gases are considered to be one of the reasons for global warming.
A&E has always been known for its achievements in sustainability, thread product innovation, colour, and sewing performance. The company recently manufactured sewing threads from recycled polyester fibre by recycling drinking bottles and is on a research spree to develop secure thread product authenticity solutions and resources.
