Stitch World - - NEWS -

World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry ( WFSGI), an independent non- profit association, has collaborated with Sports and Fitness Industry Association ( SFIA) on a new project to launch the WFSGI Compliance Labelling Requirements ( CLR) database. The database will be operational by the end of this month.

Sports and fitness companies around the world face discrepancies with different product labelling requirements that change from country to country. The idea behind the launch was to bring the companies on a common platform where labelling requirements of 49 countries are available.

The online database will provide the subscribers with comprehensive information about the product and package labelling requirements for the sports and fitness industry along with the other sectors. The database will cover six distinct product categories such as apparel & textile, footwear, consumer electronics ( wearables), personal protective equipment and sporting equipment and bicycles. Subscribers can create and download customised reports based on their specific needs. Notification via email alerts will also be sent to users to ensure them of any regulation change.

Asics, Columbia Sportswear, New Balance Athletics, Nike, Pentland Brands, Under Armour, VF Corporation are some of the companies who are already committed to the database. Content with the launch, Robbert de Kock, President and CEO, WFSGI announced that SFIA is their key Ambassador in America for the promotion of the WFSGI CLR database. Tom Cove, SFIA, CEO and President said, “It’s an easy-access, comprehensive, onestop shop for companies and their teams to keep up with the most recent, or the most obscure labelling requirements, and everything in between.”

Many sports and fitness companies have funded the project. Compliance & Risk, which is responsible for handling the system as well as providing their subscribers subject related expertise, has also given its cooperation for building the database.
