Chennai: As talks between Yamaha Motor India management and the district administration is said to have ended on a positive note on Friday, the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) and Yamaha Employees’ Union (YEU) are hopeful that the ongoing cease-work of workers at the plant will end soon. CITU state president A Soundararajan, also president of YEU, on Saturday said that for the first time since September 21 (when the strike started) the management came forward to discuss the issue with Kancheepuram Collector P Ponnaih, rekindling hopes of an amicable resolution. “We learn that the meeting with the Collector was productive,” he said.
