It goes without saying that content with 4K resolution and High Dynamic Range (HDR) is on the rise. One reason is that the devices to capture them have become affordable; the proliferation of 4K TVs that now start from a price of around `30,000.
To capture the experience, LaLiga uses a minimum of 20 HDR cameras during the matches. The HDR experience results in improved colour and brightness, mastered in up to 12-bit colour depth and 10,000 nits peak brightness. While LaLiga plans to increase the number of matches in 4K HDR this season that starts in August, we don’t think Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) will broadcast any of the matches in 4K, even on their OTT SonyLIV app.
