Minor maid raped, assaulted for over 2 yrs

A 14- year- old domestic help was allegedly sexually abused and assaulted by her employer at his Jamia Nagar residence for the last two years. The victim has also alleged that she was tortured by the family ever since she started working at the house.

Police officials said the incident came to light on Tuesday evening when the victim was seen being chased by the accused Nadeem in Jamia Nagar area.

The accused had allegedly assaulted the victim and was chasing her when she tried to escape from the house.

The victim, however, approached a neighbour seeking his intervention which led to a scuffle between the neighbour and Nadeem, who is currently unemployed, after which the police was informed.

The victim, who hails from Sitamarhi, Bihar, has told the police that she was working as a domestic help at Nadeem’s house in Jamia Nagar since the last two years.

“Initially, when the victim started working at the house, the accused allegedly tried to have physical relations with her but she resisted his advances. The accused, however, took advantage of the situation

one day when no one was home and allegedly raped the victim,” a police official quoted the victim as saying.

The victim has also alleged that she was subjected to harassment and physical assault by the family over small mistakes.

To substantiate her claims of torture and assault, the victim showed burn marks on her right hand.

The victim has alleged that the Nadeem’s sister also used to beat her. A senior police official said the role of Nadeem’s mother in assaulting the victim is being verified.

“The girl was taken for medical examination which confirmed that she was raped and physically assaulted. We have recorded her statement and an investigation has been started. These allegations of torture need to be corroborated before any legal action is initiated. The accused has been charged for raping the victim. He was arrested and produced in a city court which sent him to judicial custody,” the official said.
