Preity chops tresses for a cause

Women have always been extremely touchy and sensitive about their tresses. And when you are an actress, it’s only natural that you take the obsession a little more seriously considering the constant exposure to the shutterbugs and paparazzi. But Preity Zinta doesn’t seem to think that way.

The actress, who has been away shooting for her film Ishqk In Paris, for almost six months, is leaving no stone unturned to make an impeccable debut as a producer. “I’m also acting in the film and that has doubled my responsibilities towards it,” smiles Preity. In a bid to do the best for her film, Preity has taken a rather bold step. The actress has chopped off her lovely long tresses! Not just for the look, but for a good cause. She has donated it for a cancer patient’s organisation in the US. In fact she made an appearance on television for the IPL match of her team Kings X1 Punjab, sporting short hair.

“The script required her to wear her hair short. They could have done with a wig, but Preity decided to go for the real thing instead. She was in Los Angeles when she decided to donate her cropped hair for a good cause,” says her spokesperson.

A lot of stylists in India and abroad have been working on creating awareness about women donating their hair to cancer patients. When Preity got a chance to do her bit for the cancer patients, she didn’t think twice. “She cropped it a few inches more than what was required,” says her friend.

For many cancer patients, hair loss is the most distressing and feared side- effect of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Hair donation has become a popular way for women, children and men to contribute to a worthwhile cause.
