3- dimensional Kamasutra

- MONISHA MOHANDAS

We see it often sharing shelf space with Ramayana and Mahabharata in the book

stores but Kama Sutra never fails to evoke curiousity, even more so in the west than in our country. “For them, every work on Indian culture is worth doing research on as they respect us for our art, culture and tradition,” says Rupesh Paul, maker of the movie

Kamasutra 3D.

“I agree that the movie can create sensationalism but that was not my intention. I want to

bring out the divine part of Kama Sutra which many of us are unaware of.” Divine part? “Of

course yes. Have you heard about Ananga

Ranga? Unlike Kama Sutra, which deals with

how to handle 35- 40 different women, Ananga

Ranga is about preventing the separation of husband and wife. It is a refined form of Kama Sutra. Kamasutra 3D is about the battle of a woman, who tries to transform herself into 35- 40 forms, to bring back her husband who is a Casanova,” says Rupesh.

Surely, the less seriously minded would be more interested in Sheryln Chopra’s recent scenes going viral on Internet, and the fact that the movie has a song with 50 nude girls dancing around her. Though the male leads are still a suspense, Makarand Deshpande, Milind Gunaji, Shakti Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Ashish Vidyarthi, Zakhir Hussain, Nassar and Salim Kumar will be playing prominent roles.
