Three bikers allegedly created chaos near India Gate and injured a Delhi police constable when he tried to stop them. The incident occurred in the early hours on Thursday.

The police said that the accused were riding motorcycles without number plates.

The police is checking the antecedents of the bikers.

“The three were heading towards India Gate from Tilak Marg area. They were asked to slow down but they accelerated. Immediately a message was flashed on wireless and all the police personnel deployed near India Gate were informed about the bikers. A Delhi police con- stable tried to stop them but they rammed their motorcycle into him,” said the police official.

The injured constable Jagdish is posted at the Tilak Marg police station. He reportedly sustained a fracture in his back bone. He was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where he is undergoing treatment and his condition was stated to be critical by the doctors.

Meanwhile, the police nabbed the three bikers. Initially they tried to mislead the police by telling fictitious name and addresses. But when the police interrogated them thoroughly they broke down and revealed that they were residents of Kalyanpuri.
