RAGGED MP GIRL COMMITS SUICIDE, 5 ARE ARRESTED

The Bhopal police on Thursday arrested four girl students and a teacher from RKDF College in the state capital on charge of ragging and abetting the suicide of 18- year old Anita Sharma, a second year student of Pharmacy.

Anita allegedly committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan in her room on Tuesday evening. In a 3- page suicide note, the deceased accused five persons, including four senior girl students, of ragging and harassing her. A police team went to the RKDF College and picked up the five accused Deepti, Kirti, Nidhi, Divyagi and Manish ( a college staffer) on the basis of the suicide note.

harassment. She had also been threatened that she should be ready to face an acid attack if she refused to cooperate.

Madhya Pradesh chief secretary R. Parasuram on Thursday held a meeting with concerned officials and reviewed the situation vis- à- vis the problem of ragging. He stressed there should be “zero tolerance” and directed that instructio­ns be issued to all college principals that ragging in any form will not be tolerated.
