South stars to shine at SIIMA

The second edition of SIIMA awards promises to be a bigger and better version by getting the top names from the South Indian film industry on board

It is celebratio­n time for the hot and happening South Indian movie stars. At a time when the South Indian film industry is celebratin­g 100 years of Indian cinema, here comes yet another honour for the talented bunch of southern films. Yes, we are talking about SIIMA awards, the second edition of which was unveiled at a curtain- raiser event that took place in Dubai recently. And revealing the details about the second South Indian Internatio­nal Movie Awards were none other than ravishing Shriya Saran, hot hunk Rana Daggubati and handsome Arya who apparently are the hosts for the glitzy evening along with Bollywood actor Sonu Sood.

SIIMA aims at honouring the best cinematic achievemen­ts of the South Indian film industry ( which produces the maximum number of films) namely, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada and create a global platform for them.

To be held on September 12 and 13, the award function will take place at the Sharjah Expo Centre. Shortlisti­ng the best films of all South Indian languages, SIIMA is gearing up for two days of action- packed merriment.

The awards ceremony will be spread over two days. Day one will comprise the Generation Next Awards night, and will be hosted by former Miss India World and actress Parvathy Omanakutta­n, and co- hosted by standup comedian Ash Chandler. The Popular Awards will be held on day two with the above mentioned stars hosting it.

Children directed by Deepa Mehta said, “I am very excited to be a part of SIIMA. I had started my career with South Indian films, so this industry is very close to my heart. I am really thrilled that I am co- hosting this prestigiou­s award function and will be sharing the platform with three handsome coanchors.” Arya on his part said, “I am excited to be a part of a function where South Indian cinema is presented on a global platform.”

cessful people from the South Indian film industry who are being honoured for their artistic contributi­on. As the host, it will be a pleasure to ensure that amongst all the cheer, the stars have a good time, are thoroughly entertaine­d, and cherish their moment of praise.”

“SIIMA is a platform for South Indian film industries to showcase their cinema and market it at global level. The award function will be held in a different country every year,” disclosed Vishnuvard­han Induri, founder and MD of SIIMA.

The awards night will be packed with captivatin­g performanc­es by some of the biggest stars of South cinema.
