- AGE CORRESPONDENT

Fresh from his resounding victory in the Lok Sabha polls, former Karnataka chief minister B. S. Yeddyurappa on Saturday met the RSS top brass here and shared his assessment about the BJP’s performance in the state. Mr Yeddyurappa, who is likely to get a ministerial berth in the soon- to- be constituted Narendra Modi Cabinet, credited the BJP’s historic win in the general elections to the “able leadership” of Mr Modi.

Emerging from the meeting with the RSS leadership, the Karnataka strongman said he has left the decision of his entry into the Cabinet to Mr Modi and the party leadership. “It is left to Narendra Modi and the party leadership,” he said.

During the meeting with the RSS leadership, Mr Yeddyurappa is understood to have shared his assessment on the party’s performance in the state. He also attributed the BJP’s massive victory to Mr Modi and party cadres. “The BJP has won the elections because of Mr Modi, our work and failure of the Congress,” he said.

Mr Yeddyurappa also appreciated the work of the RSS in this election, saying the party has done well due to the Sangh’s support.

Speculation is rife that Mr Yeddyurappa and his colleague from the state Ananth Kumar will be inducted into the Modi Cabinet. However, there is no confirmation on whether the duo would be part of the government as the BJP is still discussing the contours of the next dispensation.

There are also other contenders for ministerial berths from the state, which has delivered 17 seats to the BJP.
