Add a touch of voice to world of business

- MANOJ MATHEW

The personal touch of voice can do wonders in the world of business revolving around Internet. A group of six student entrepreneurs who passed out from Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram, discovered this to their advantage a couple of years ago.

Waybeo, the startup they launched in 2011 at Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram, brought back the magic of telephony and weaved it with the web into a successful business model. The company won the attention of technology industry in quick time and was adjudged as one of the 10 top startups by Nasscom in 2013.

BounzD, their most sought- after product, streams voice through browsers and enable instant voice interaction between online customer and business. The platform also provides world’s first voice inbound call- based analytics to large and medium enterprises. In India, realty firms and hospit a l i t y industry are their main subscribers.

“The advantage of our product is that anyone visiting the web sites of our clients can click a button and make an instant call without disrupting the browsing experience. Instead of calling out, they have the option of getting a call in as well. We found that prospective customers visiting such sites prefer to use this service than going for the toll- free number. The call for the customer is also free,” said Bushair P., CEO of Waybeo, who opted out of his job as a software engineer with TCS, to start the company.

“We started selling our concept in India. Soon, to our surprise, there was good acceptance of the product. Our business grew from Thiruvananthapuram to Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi in no time. As of now, we have enabled one lakh voice interactions for 150 large enterprises in India. Our customers include LandT, Mahindra, Godrej, Lodha, Sahara Star, The Lalit, Royal Orchid, World Trade Center Bangalore, Sobha, JayPee Etc. In Realty sector, Heera Group from Thiruvananthapuram was our first customer who was very creative in utilizing the new concept to business,” Mr Bushair said.

The business does not end with telephony. The company also provides call analytic service which is already a multimillion market in countries like the US. The subscription plan varies from ` 15,000 to ` 6.5 lakh.

“We are all set to start operations from US this month on wards. The market is evolving faster and we see an amazing opportunity in the next four years. I am sure that it will be a must- have tool for any company depending on Internet for business soon,” Mr Bushair said.

Waybeo netted a revenue of ` 1 core in 2013 and is looking forward for ` 5 crore by next year.
