The chief minister had also shown additional interest in public health and children welfare. Under the state comprehens­ive health Insurance scheme so far 1,016 procedures, 23 diagnostic procedures and 113 identified procedures, treatment were given to 1.30 crore persons, and ID cards have been issued to them for their future treatment. Besides Tamils, Sri Lankan refugees living both in refugees camps and in other places are also covered by the scheme. Additional care is also rendered for the differentl­y able

persons, the family is eligible to avail the benefits of the scheme. Under the CM comprehens­ive health Insurance scheme, a special corpus fund of ` 10 crore has been created to meet the extra cost of costly surgeries exceeding the eligible amount of ` 1.5 lakh premium per annum. So far 1,136 persons

were benefited through this fund. Assistance to pregnant woman under the Dr. Muthulaksh­mi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme has been enhanced to ` 12,000 and so far 20.07 lakh pregnant women were benefited to the to tune of ` 1806.81 crore. Sanitary napkins were given at no cost to 114.35 lakh rural adolescent girls, 729 women prisoners, and 525 mentally affected women being treated in 56 mental hospitals. A multi- super speciality hospital has been set up at Omandhur Government Estate at a cost of ` 143.14 crore and 83 higher specialise­d doctors and 232 non- medical assistants have been appointed.
