My dad sees me as a competitor, says Tiger

TIGER SHROFF

He’s got the style of Hrithik Roshan, does daredevil stunts like Akshay Kumar, has a body like Salman Khan and dances like King of Pop Michael Jackson! No wonder, actor Tiger Shroff is a complete package! From showcasing his dance moves to performing stunts, Tiger left no stone unturned when he visited the capital along with his stunning co- star, Delhi- gal Kriti Sanon and director Sabbir Khan recently. Ahead of his debut movie Heropanti’s release, Tiger even took off his shirt on public demand! Talking about the movie, he shares, “Heropanti is a sweet love story that has all the elements of a masala Bollywood flick. I play a character called Bablu. He is fresh out of college and unemployed. In the movie, he shows all kinds of heropanti just to save those whom he loves.”

Kriti, who has an engineering degree in real- life, is playing a simple middle- class Haryanvi jaat girl from a conservative family in the movie. She says, “I am from Delhi and think that the Delhi audience is going to love this movie! We shot the movie mostly in North India, in Patiala, Kashmir and Delhi, and the way we’ve spoken in the movie, has a typically northIndian dialect and nuances. I think the youth will especially have lots of fun watching it.”

Director Sabbir, who has been spotted with a plaster for the past few days at various promotional events, responded to queries of whether he tried any of Tiger’s stunts to get into this distressed physical state, “No man! I can’t do what Tiger does! I got hurt during one of the promotional tours in Dubai.”

So how was his experience directing the star- kid? He shares, “Tiger has absolutely no airs and is one of the most wellbehaved and well- brought up boys I have ever come across. His focus and concentration is impeccable.”

When asked if the jokes on Internet affect him, Tiger responds, “I actually don’t mind them at all. I feel that it is a good thing that people are talking about me. Jokes have been popular online even on Rajinikanth, Alok Nath, Alia Bhatt, SRK and Yo Yo Honey Singh. So I feel happy and proud to be counted amongst them.”

Tiger also emphasised that there is no connection between his father’s movie Hero and Heropanti apart from the fact that both are love stories. “I think it was a unanimous decision of the filmmakers to name the movie Heropanti as it’s a very general term in North India. Apart from the word ‘ hero’ both the films are different, so are the characters and story. To be honest, my dad never came on the sets, not even for a day. So, I never got any tips or advice from him. And I don’t think he will give me any tips in the future either as he treats me like his competitor now. But like it is said that every son’s first hero is his father, so also is the case with me.” he says and adds, “I don’t want to take advantage of my father’s name or position and want my own name to be recognised in the industry. Since my father is a phenomenal actor that leaves me with an even bigger responsibility,” he concludes.
