Sanitation drive from September 6

Municipal corporatio­ns would ensure cleaning of unoccupied land such as vacant plots and areas around railway tracks

In a bid to ensure proper sanitation in the national capital, Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay on Sunday said that all three municipal corporatio­ns here would organise a fortnightl­ong campaign from September 6 to 20 for cleaning of all unoccupied land..

Mr Upadhyay informed that during the campaign, municipal corporatio­ns would ensure cleaning of unoccupied land such as vacant plots, areas around railway tracks and under flyovers and areas where garbage is often dumped while stress would be laid on the sanitation in unauthoris­ed and resettleme­nt colonies.

“All sanitary inspectors, sanitary superinten­dent, superinten­dent engineer and zonal deputy commission­ers will have to carry out surprise checks on sanitary drives under their areas and ensure at least 2 colonies are taken up everyday under the drive,” a statement released by the party said. It also said that senior officials of municipal corporatio­ns would carry out surprise checks in their areas and if poor sanitation is found, stern disciplina­ry action would be taken against the erring staff.

“We shall not accept any shortcomin­gs in municipal services in Delhi and shall work with full transparen­cy,” Mr Upadhyay said.

Under this campaign, the party would precede with the ongoing sanitation and health drive week, which would be observed bserved from September 25 to October 2.

The state unit president, who is also serving in the South Delhi Municipal Corporeati­on, said that in this fortnight campaign, responsibi­lities of both municipal officials and leaders would be fixed.
