Common mobile app for all Delhi govt departments

- PRAGYA SINGH

To keep the public updated about the latest decisions, the city administration is in the process of creating a common mobile application for all its departments. A circular in this regard was issued by the information technology wing to all the departments functioning under the Delhi government. The app will bring all the government departments under one umbrella and therefore provide a hassle- free experience for the users. Officials said that once the mobile app is functional, people will be able to track the status of their requests and applications with the state government.

“The ultimate goal is the transition of the administration towards an online platform and making the bureaucratic processes e-friendly in nature. Through this app, people will be able to track their pending applications or requests. This will be linked to the time- bound delivery at various levels,” said R. K. Verma, principal secretary, IT.

The upgradation of the various state government departments from their web appearance to the mobile application will provide an easy access to those who do not have a desktop or laptop handy. “Not everyone has access to laptops or desktops throughout the day and the mobile app will provide an easy access to all the Delhi government departments. The government has 200odd departments functioning under it and another 100 as government- owned subsidiaries,” a senior official said.

The internal circular issued recently directs the departments to switch to the mobile platform from the web version. “The departments could either get their platforms created by outsourcing it to a vendor or through the assistance of the IT department. These individual platforms will then be linked to the common platform, which will serve as the welcome window to the users,” the official added.
