Former Tamil Nadu chief minister and AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa on Sunday assured party cadre that she would emerge successfully out of the difficult situation that she found herself in, just as she had done several times in the past.

In her first communiqué since reaching Chennai on Saturday, Jayalalitha said that her public life is like swimming in a sea of inferno.

“Since the day I committed myself to public life, I have been experiencing the ordeals of leading a life dedicated to the welfare of the people. I have sacrificed myself for safeguarding my AIADMK, and my journey, henceforth, will continue along the same path.” Recalling that her mentor and party founder M. G. Ramachandran had secured an assurance from her that she would dedicate herself to leading the AIADMK, Jayalalithaa said and added that she was living by that promise. She assured the party workers to meet their expectations, besides continuing to work for the welfare of the people of the state.

The former chief minister pointed out that 193 people had died in TN after hearing of the news of her conviction and subsequent imprisonment and expressed her concern for the families of the deceased.

The AIADMK generalsecretary announced a relief of ` 3 lakh to each of the bereaved families. The party will give ` 50,000 to each of the three persons who attempted suicide and were admitted to hospitals for treatment.
