7.5cr released for midday meals at govt schools

The city administra­tion has

released funds in tune of over 7.5 crore for government- aided schools in Delhi for serving midday meals to

students in their primary and upper primary classes. At present, there are 95,182 students studying in primary and upper primary classes at government- aided schools in the capital. A senior official of education department said that an amount of 7,52,18,440 has

been released towards cooking costs under under

midday meal scheme for government- aided schools

for the 2014- 15 financial year. Out of 95,182 students studying in primary and upper primary classes at government- aided schools in the city, central district, which has 20,261 students in government- aided schools, received the biggest chunk

of the fund allocation among the districts. “Central

district of Delhi received over 1.63 crore under the midday meal scheme while North district, where 16,947 students are studying in pri

mary and upper primary classes, has been given over

1.32 crore,” he said. Schools in South district have received more than

1.14 crore under the scheme. Over 98 lakh was given to the New Delhi dis

trict with 13,299 students.
