Here’s some good and bad news for gamers

-

The name Halo has been synonymous with the epitome of the first person shooter on consoles for well over a decade now. With Halo 2, Microsoft and Bungie achieved something that most developers only dream of, both a massive commercial as well as cult success.

Halo 2 literally put the original Xbox on the radar as a serious gaming console and the franchise has been delivering great content throughout its lifespan. Microsoft is hoping that the Masterchief Collection can do for the Xbox One, what Halo 2 did for the Original Xbox. Thus far things have been looking promising, until recently when 343 Industries announced that the game would require a 20GB mandatory day one patch.

For most of us in India, the very thought of a 20GB download is downright terrifying, thanks to our amazing internet. What is even more of a shame is that those looking to buy the game digitally, will now have to wait through a 65GB download. This, according to the developers, was done so as to ensure no corners are cut and that the blu ray disk simply couldn’t accommodate more data. Personally however, I wouldn’t mind paying a few hundred bucks more for another disk than sit 3- 4 days to wait for my download to finish. It’s time to top up those FUPs.

Good news for PC gamers looking to get in on some Halo action as well. The top down Spartan Strike will be available on Steam on 12 December, 2014 for all of $ 5.99. Made in the same style as Spartan Assault , the game addresses many of the complaints and improves on the mechanics to give a much more enjoyable and immersive experience. Spartan Strike will also be available for all Windows mobile platforms, which will be cross buy. The Steam version is stand alone and will have its own achievements.
