Militants from the dreaded terror outfit Al Badr and Tehreek- e- Jihad are planning to attack jails in Jammu and Poonch in an attempt to rescue some of the militants lodged there. The militants are also planning to target some key defence installations in the area following which security forces in the Jammu, Poonch and Rajouri region have been put on high alert.

Central intelligence agencies have issued a warning following specific inputs and have also sent out an advisory to both the Centre and the state government in this regard. Highly- placed intelligence sources said the state police, paramilitary and even the Army have been advised to put in place stringent security measures in wake of the fresh inputs.

“Security forces have taken adequate preventive measures following our reports and we are in constant touch with them. Security at key installa- tions, including jails, has already been beefed up and a special surveillance is being kept on some of the key militants lodged in the jail in the region,” a senior intelligence official said.

Sources claimed that the intelligence agencies intercepted some messages and even had “ground intelligence” that taking advantage of the recent heavy rains in Jammu and Kashmir some of the militants from Al Badr and Tehreek- e- Jihad may try and sneak in from across the border. These “heavily- armed militants” will then target jails and defence installations in an attempt to carryout a big terror strike.

Following successive attacks on a police station and an Army camp in Kathua in March the militants are now planning another major incident for which a group from these two terror outfits are said to be waiting close to the border. The intelligence inputs reveal that the group is heavilyarmed with sophisticated weapons, night- vision devices and communication equipment.

Patrolling along the border has been considerably enhanced to ensure that this particular group, which is camping in Pakistan close to the border, is not able to cross over into India.
