Lamborghini rams into divider, driver flees

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

A high- end Lamborghini car was completely damaged after its driver lost control over the vehicle and rammed it first into the divider and then into an electric pole at the India Gate C- hexagon late on Wednesday night. However, the Delhi police’s hushed up approach to the entire case on Thursday was puzzling. Even as senior officers remained tightlipped on the owner of the vehicle, sources said that the car was reportedly registered in the name of a company in south Delhi’s Kotla Mubarakpur. There are just about 22 Lamborghini cars in India and the one that met with the accident was a bright yellow LP- 670 4SV model. It costs more than ` 6 crore. A senior police officer said: “The hit must have been extremely hard as the car is complete damaged.”

Police sources said that soon after the incident, the local police, media and a few boys working for the owner of the car had reached the spot. The sources added: “Someone made away with both the number plates of the car and the police didn’t come to know about it.” On the other hand, according to the FIR lodged at the Tilak Marg police station in connection with the accident, constable Tej Pal, who is the complainant in the case, has said: “I was on duty when at about 1.15 am, I saw an overspeeding car driven in a rash and negligent manner ramming into the divider between Copernicus Marg and Tilak Marg at India Gate C- Hexagon.” “Soon after the accident, the driver ran away from the spot and I informed the police station about this,” the FIR added.
