Deputy CM denies receiving any report

- MOHIT SHARMA

A day after this newspaper reported that the AAP government’s Anti- Corruption Branch ( ACB) had taken a U- turn within five hours, from issuing a negative to positive clearance certificate to former Delhi chief secretary D. M. Spolia ( on the day of his retirement) and two others in connection with the CNG fitness scam, a highly- placed source said on Thursday that deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia had not received any such report so far.

“The minister received none of the two reports which were issued by the ACB within five hours on February 27 and the matter was never ever put up before him,” the source told this newspaper. “If anything like this will come up before the deputy CM, he will certainly take action against the persons involved.” On Wednesday, this newspaper had report- ed that on February 27 the ACB was asked to give their clearance report. Additional commissioner of police P. C. Hota in his first report sent at about 11 am had specifically mentioned that the “matter regarding enquiry/ examination of the self- contained note of the CBI on the subject is actively under process in this unit and considering the enormity and sensitiveness of the task, the finalisation of the same would require some more time.” “Any hasty assessment and preparing the final report is likely to run the risk of possible incorrect presentation,” the report added. However, taking a sudden U- turn, he handed over another report at about 4 pm the same day ( having 18 points and five pages) to the vigilance department of the city government, clearing the names of three officials, including Mr Spolia.
