Cops arrest 4 for theft of Samsung goods container

With the arrest of four drivers, the Delhi police on Friday claimed to have solved the sensationa­l robbery of a container carrying Samsung mobile phone goods worth about ` 27 crore on Tuesday night at knifepoint.

According to deputy commission­er of police ( southeast district) M. S. Randhawa, the accused have been identified as Pramod ( 25), Sarvesh ( 27), Vinod Kumar Yadav ( 29) and his brother Pramod Yadav ( 25). All of them are drivers by profession and Pramod is the mastermind of the incident.

On intervenin­g night of Tuesday- Wednesday, the police received a call about the robbery and on reaching the spot, the driver of the container, identified as Ghanshyam, said he worked with A to Z transport company headquarte­red in Ghaziabad and along with Sarvesh, another driver of the company following him in another truck, were going to deliver the consignmen­ts to Noida when a white car intercepte­d his vehicle. Two persons alighted from the car, threatened him at the knifepoint and escaped with his container

he police said that during the investigat­ion, it came to the fore that the drivers of the company had attempted similar incidents earlier as well. “It was further learnt that Sarvesh was frequently using his mobile phone at the time of taking the goods for delivery,” said the police, adding, “Sarvesh was in touch with Pramod who earlier worked as a driver with the company and had left the job a year ago.”

“A raid was conducted at Pramod’s hideout in Uttar Pradesh and a container — Eicher Canter – was recovered with looted articles. Pramod and his accomplice­s, Vinod Kumar Yadav and Pramod Yadav ( both brothers), were subsequent­ly arrested.”
