TN babu ends life due to ‘ pressure’ from officials

Tiruvarur: In yet another such incident in Tamil Nadu, a government official allegedly committed suicide due to job- related stress and “pressure” from higher officials. Muthuk- rishnan ( 36), a junior draftsman attached to the rural development agency, set himself on fire at Nannilam on Sunday night and succumbed to burn injuries on Monday. Muthukrishnan, in his dying declaration before judicial magistrate Kavitha, alleged that he was being continuously harrassed by superior officials and was anguished and heartbroken. The police said Muthukrishnan was transferred to Nannilam from here eight months back and his request for retransfer was rejected. Besides an executive engineer Senthilkumar allegedly put too much pressure on him. — PTI
