Kolkata, May 4: Kolkata Knight Riders crushed Sunrisers Hyderabad by 35 runs in their IPL- 8 encounter here on Monday night.

A Yusuf Pathan’s late cameo took Kolkata to a fighting 167/ 7 following a middle- order collapse, and the bowlers too were up to the task. Umesh Yadav and Brad Hogg took two wickets each as Hyderabad were restricted to 132/ 9.

Hyderabad batsmen could never get going with wickets tumbling at regular intervals. Openers David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan departed early while Naman Ojha was out on a duck, as the team were left reeling at 29/ 3.

Moises Hend ri ques scored a 33- ball 41 and Karn Sharma came up with a 20ball 30, but with the surging asking rate, it was too huge a task.

Earlier, Pathan held fort and struck an unbeaten 30 off 19 balls to give the total respectabi­lity.
