Beat that HEAT!

- K VEENA Soaring temperatures, sweltering heat and profuse sweating leave us confused over how to ensure that our makeup stays on. Here are a few tips that will banish those worries and keep you cool as a summer breeze, just like Deepika Padukone! ● Every

cream- based foundations if you feel like this, as constant wiping can leave your skin looking patchy. However, foundation for oily skin can be the saviour for those prone to a shiny glare around midday. Look for a foundation with matte finish and before applying it, cover your face with a primer. Not only will it help to prolong make- up, it will also keep sweat from working through your foundation.

● Always wear a light moisturiser before applying make- up. In case even a matte foundation feels heavy, a better deal would be to opt for a tinted moisturiser. This works in two ways, and keeps your skin hydrated, in addition to giving it an even tone.

● Choose light pastel shades that complement your skin tone, be it eye- shadow or a blush. Soft powders with a little sparkle will brighten your face instantly. Even if your make- up starts to run, it won’t be too obvious. This summer, there are a lot of boxed palettes which incorporate colours of the same tone for the chin, cheek and the eyes. This way your powders are all in one box, for you to touch up whenever needed. Don't forget to also sprinkle a little translucent powder to set your make up.

● When it comes to lipstick, this summer is ideal for giving the nudes a break and opting for the pop shades. Peach, coral and tangerine are some of the top picks of the season. Make sure that you buy mattes to go with the tone of the rest of the face.

● Opt for make- up products that come with the waterproof tag. This is not just so that your sweat keeps it from running, but also to protect your make up from the monsoon showers.

● If you are attending a party and have to wear heavy make- up, blotting paper works as a great wipe. Use it to dab your face gently and take off the extra shine. You can alternatively invest in a mineral spray if your face is the kind that dries up quickly.
