BJP MP Bidhuri takes dig at AAP and Jan Lokpal

- AGE CORRESPONDENT

Launching a scathing attack on the AAP, BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri on Tuesday said that the party, “known for the Jan Lokpal movement,” has abandoned its mission after coming to power in Delhi.

Speaking at an event here in the presence of Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, the BJP MP said, “The AAP is known for Jan Lokpal movement and has always demanded its implementation, but after coming to power, Jan Lokpal went missing from the city. It will be better if they can bring it back.”

Mr Bidhuri was speaking at the foundation- laying ceremony of Phase- II of Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology in the Okhla Industrial area.

In veiled attack on the performance of the AAP government, Mr Bidhuri said, “When the AAP came to power they announced to open 500 schools, but now it has come down to 250 schools as the chief minister said that they can achieve 50 per cent. Going by this statistics 30 schools come under one constituency. But I ask him to open just two schools in five years as the areas are dominated by weaker sections.”

In response, Mr Sisodia said, “Don’t worry, we will open all the 30 schools in South Delhi.”

Claiming that South Delhi does not have a single college, Mr Bidhuri demanded opening of three colleges in the South Delhi constituency. “The AAP also announced that it would open 20 colleges in the city, which means three colleges in each parliamentary constituency of Delhi. It is shocking that here is no college in South Delhi and no new college was opened in Delhi in the last 20 years. I have demanded land from the DDA and if the Delhi government will make an effort, I will arrange land from the DDA for all the three colleges,” he said.

On the sidelines of the event, Mr Bidhuri alleged that the AAP came to power by misguiding the people of this city.

On the controversy surrounding AAP leader Kumar Vishwas, Mr Bidhuri said, “The party, which came ( to power) for security and dignity of women, is now not even ready to protect a woman. They cannot even protect their own party members. It is so unfortunate that the woman is seeking time from the chief minister, but instead of resolving the issue he trying to target Mr Vishwas so that he can be the single man in the party.”
