Cops rescue abducted businessma­n, employee

With the arrest of four kidnappers of Mewat region, the Delhi police’s crime branch on Tuesday claimed to have solved a case of kidnapping in which an Ahmedabadb­ased businessma­n and his employee were abducted for ransom.

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Iliyas ( 28), Naseem ( 25), Irfan ( 26), and Abid ( 22). Iliyas was carrying a cash reward of ` 1 lakh while other three had ` 50,000 on their arrests.

The police said that in February this year a businessma­n from Ahmedabad was kidnapped while he was on his way to the capital and the kidnappers demanded a ransom of ` 1 crore through his Londonbase­d father, said the police, adding, “It was businessma­n’s wife in Ahmedabad who received the call from his father- inlaw from London about the abduction. On this, a probe began and first accused Javed was arrested and victims were rescued safely as well.”

“The rescued businessma­n revealed that they have a well establishe­d trading business in metal and scrap having their bases in London, UK and India. They have their own website for interface with the clients. In the website, there is mention of their telephone numbers as well as the email-IDs. Around 15 days prior to the kidnapping incident, he had received a telephone call from a person who claimed to be a scrap dealer based near Delhi and informed that he has large quantity of aluminum scrap in the warehouse,” said the police, adding, “After initial negotiatio­ns, the businessma­n was asked to come to Delhi from where he was kidnapped.”
