CONGRESS SEES C’GARH GOVT ROLE IN SALWA REVIVAL MOVE

-

The Congress on Tuesday saw the role of the Raman Singh government in the reported ongoing move to revive salwa judum, an anti- Naxal vigilante force disbanded a couple of years ago, to counter Naxals in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh.

“A fresh move has been launched at the behest of chief minister Raman Singh and the police to revive salwa judum in Bastar to tackle Naxalism. This is going to vitiate the atmosphere in the conflict zone further wherein tribals will be pitted against tribals as happened during the period of salwa judum movement in the region in 2005- 08”, Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhupesh Baghel alleged while talking to reporters.

“Unfortunately, the state BJP government was trying to use Chhavindra Karma, son of slain Mahendra Karma, founder of judum, as a front to float salwa judum- 2 in Bastar”, he added.
