Rohtang Pass: SC refuses to stay NGT order

The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to stay an order passed by the National Green Tribunal levying special environmental fee on all tourist vehicles operating to Manali in Himachal Pradesh. On February 2, the NGT had banned plying of diesel and petrol vehicles for tourism between Manali- Rohtang with a direction to the state government to permit plying of only CNG/ battery operated vehicles in that stretch. The NGT on May 5, kept in abeyance its orders till August 14.
