DIDI DEFENDS MAYOR NIECE, BLAMES COP
Coming to the defence of
Kolkata mayor Sovan Chatterjee’s niece Debapriya
Chatterjee, chief minister Mamata Banerjee described the manhandling of the onduty traffic police constable by the young woman an act
of a “little girl”. She also questioned the decision of the cop: Chandan Pande to seize her driving licence.
Ms Banerjee statement came during the Zero Hour
in the House of the Assembly when Congress MLA Manas Bhuniya drew her attention to her home department’s issues soon after the Left Front MLAs
led by leader of the Opposition Surjyakanta Mishra staged a walkout from the House alleging interference in police administration, including the incident, which was rejected by Speaker Biman Banerjee for discussion. Without taking
the name of the mayor’s niece the chief minister said, “An incident took place in Kolkata with the little girls.
So why would the police seize the licence? The police is investigating the inci
