CBSE topper to pursue parents’ dream

- SHASHI BHUSHAN

CBSE Class 12 topper M. Gayatri, a student of New Green Fields School in the national capital, is unlikely to join college for regular undergraduate courses.

Gayatri, who secured top position in the country with 99.2 per cent marks, wants to become a chartered accountant and she wishes to pursue the course without getting admission to a regular course at any top college in the city or any other part of country.

Talking to this newspaper, Gayatri said that she wanted to pursue chartered accountancy instead of joining a regular college. “My parents and I have decided that I will pursue chartered accountant course and they advised me to go for it instead of joining any college. Final decision will be taken in a couple of days whether I will join college or not,” added Gayatri.

Six hours of regular study throughout the year helped her in securing top position in the CBSE Class 12 exam.

“I continue to study around six hours daily that there would be no extra burden before exam,” she said.

Along with her regular studies, she also learned Carnatic classic music and Tanjavur painting as hobbies. “Music and drawing help me to relax without diverting focus from study,” she added.

Gayatri also loves to hangout with a select group of friends. “One can say I am an introvert, but with friends I am quite different and love their company. I go out with them for movies and eating,” she said. However, she failed to remember the movies she last watched before the exam.

Gayatri, who never took tuition classes, attributed her academic success to her teachers, parents and her friends. “My mother provided me with the study schedule which I followed religiously. My teachers continuously helped me and provided support whenever there was a problem. Without their support, blessings and wishes, it is not possible to achieve the top position in any exam,” said Gayatri.
