3 arrested in traffickin­g, rape case

The Delhi police has arrested three persons, including a woman, in a case of alleged traffickin­g and rape of a young girl, who was lured from West Bengal with the promise of marriage, but was being forced into prostituti­on. While the victim ( 19), a resident of a village in West Bengal was rescued from Kabir Nagar and her statement recorded by a northeast district police team, the sleuths arrested three persons, identified as Shahjahan Molliya, alias Bapi ( 27), Nafees, alias Sameer ( 28), and a 27- yearold woman. A case vide Sections 323, 354, 366, 368, 370, 376 and 120B of the IPC was registered at police station Welcome on May 24.

According to the police, they received a PCR call that one young woman was being beaten by three boys at 2nd Floor of C- 16/ 2, Gali No. 16, Kabir Nagar. When the team reached the spot, they found a girl, about 19 years, in a traumatise­d state. Not able to speak or understand either Hindi or English, we took her to G. T. B. Hospital and got her medical examinatio­n done.

After her counsellin­g by an NGO, the victim in her statement revealed that she belongs to a village in North 24 Pargana district, West Bengal. Her father had died and her mother worked as a tailor from home to make ends meet. A few days ago, one neighbour gave her the mobile number of one Shahjahan Molliya, who also lives near her house in her village, and told her that he is a good boy and will marry her. As they started talking to each other, Bapi made a marriage proposal and asked her to come to Delhi. When she arrived Old Delhi Railway Station on May 20, he took her to a hotel near Jama Masjid and raped her on the pretext of marrying her.

Bapi took her to one Raju’s house, where Raju also raped her.
