HULL STRIKER CHARGED OVER JONES CLASH
London: Hull City forward Abel Hernandez has been charged with violent conduct after allegedly punch
ing Manchester United defender Phil Jones, the
Football Association announced on Tuesday.
Uruguay international Hernandez, 24, appeared to swing his fist into Jones’s midriff as they jostled at a corner during the 0- 0 draw
between the sides on Sunday that saw Hull relegated from the Premier
League. As the incident was not seen by any of the match officials at the KC Stadium, it has been referred to a panel of former referees. “Abel Hernandez has been charged for an alleged act
of violent conduct which was not seen by the match officials, but caught on video,” the FA said in a
statement. “Each panel member will review the video footage independently of one anoth
er to determine whether they consider it a sendingoff offence. For retrospective action to be taken, the decision by the panel must
be unanimous.” Hernandez, who faces a three- game ban if found guilty, has until 1700 GMT on Wednesday to respond
to the charge. Hernandez joined Hull from
Palermo in a club- record £ 9.5 million deal last year.
