Kejri meets Jung over ACB issue
In his first meeting after days of slugfest over the appropriation of power in the city, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday met with lieutenant- governor Najeeb Jung to discuss the functioning of the AntiCorruption Bureau ( ACB).
The meeting comes a day after Delhi high court ruled that the anti- graft body has authority to probe Central government officials, including Delhi police personnel, and hours before the start of two- day- long Delhi Assembly Session, which commenced on Tuesday to discuss the Union home ministry’s notification giving absolute powers to the L- G.
The meeting lasted for about 15- 20 minutes, in which the chief minister apprised Mr Jung of the high court ruling about the powers of the ACB and his views on the matter. Mr Kejriwal was accompanied by deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and chief secretary K. K. Sharma.
Mr Kejriwal is also said to have briefed the L- G about the agenda of the two- day Assembly Session and expressed his readiness to work with Mr Jung to ensure effective governance.
In the May 21 notification, the Union home ministry had also barred ACB from registering any case against officers and political functionaries of the Central government.
After the notification, Mr Kejriwal had launched a frontal attack on the Centre, accusing it of “back- stabbing” the people of the city.
