DIPPY TO STAR IN SRI’S NEXT?

- REENA KAPOOR

After the critical and commercial success of his last film, Badlapur, director Sriram Raghavan is in talks with Deepika Padukone for his next project. From what our sources report, the film will be based on Vikas Swarup’s novel The Accidental Apprentice.

“Sriram has already mailed Deepika a brief about the film and the message that has been conveyed is that she is i mpressed with the subject matter. Beyond that, they haven’t really discussed other details,” our source said.

Having received acclaim for films like Finding Fanny and Piku, Deepika is certainly interested in taking up more diverse cinematic roles. “Right now, Deepika is at a stage where it’s a film’s script — and not the money or the banner — that interests her. Give her a solid script and she might take it up,” our source pointed out.

We also hear that it was after Piku that Sriram first approached Dippy with the idea, and while the actress is yet to take a final call, in all probability, she will say yes to the project.
