- AGE CORRESPONDENT

The Oshiwara police by Friday had recorded statements of three eye witnesses who reportedly witnessed the incident where Bollywood singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya allegedly touched a woman inappropriately three times during a Durga Puja function in Lokhandwala in Andheri ( west) on Wednesday.

Abhijeet’s ‘ sister’ has also been booked for hurling abuses at the complainant. The police said Abhijeet has no sister but the complainant said the woman who abused her was related to Abhijeet. The police has not identified her yet. The police has also got their hands on the CCTV camera footage from the venue and is scanning it to see if the incident has been captured on it. Abhijeet will soon be asked to come for questioning in a day or two by the investigating official.

An officer from the Oshiwara police also said the singer might be arrested “depending on what transpires” in the investiga- tion. The Oshiwara police refused to divulge what the witnesses have said in their statement. The incident took place around 10 pm on Wednesday, when the woman was seated in the pandal watching a music show organised by Abhijeet. The show was part of the Durga Pooja function. When Kailash Kher came up on the stage to sing, the woman stood up to get a better view and this was when Abhijeet allegedly touched her three times on the pretext of asking her to sit down.
