We’ve given more funds to MCDs than Centre: Govt
Claiming that the Aam Aadmi Party government has released more funds to the three municipal corporations in the city till this month as against last October when the Centre was running the state government, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Friday listed out the details of the figures of the amount released to the MCDs.
He said that the comparative chart shows that the money released by the AAP government till date is much more than what was released during the same period last year.
As per the figures, the government has released ` 996.56 crore till October 15 ( plan and non- plan) to the North MCD, registering an increase of 29.16 per cent from the last year in the same financial year. The figures also show that the funds released to the South and East MCDs have registered an increase of 30.67 per cent and 19.32 respectively.
Mr Sisodia also appealed to lieutenantgovernor Najeeb Jung to direct DDA to release property dues running into ` 1,400 crores to the three municipal corporations. He alleged that an attempt is being made to vitiate the atmosphere that the Delhi government is not cooperating with the MCDs deliberately by not releasing funds to civic bodies.
Mr Sisodia also said that the DDA owed a huge sum of amount to all the three corporations. He said that the three MCDs should ask the L- G to direct the DDA to release the pending money to them at the earliest.
