A 40- year- old property dealer was found dead under mysterious circumstances at one of his friend’s residence in south Delhi’s Mehrauli area on Thursday night. Family members have alleged foulplay in the incident. Preliminary reports hint that the deceased, identified as Madan Arora, suffered a bullet injury. However, the police said that the weapon of offence, probably a pistol, has not been recovered from the crime scene.

According to a senior police officer, the incident came to light at about 9.30 pm when they received a call from his friend Anil, claiming that Madan has committed suicide on the terrace of his building. A team of the Mehrauli police station reached the spot and found his body lying on the terrace in a pool of blood. “There was a bullet wound in his head. We questioned Anil and he claimed that they were consuming alcohol when suddenly Arora collapsed on the floor,” said the cops, adding, “There were crackers bursting all around at that time as part of Dussehra celebrations.”

The police said that they have not been able to ascertain whether someone on the terrace, including Madan, opened fire or was the deceased hit by some stray bullet fired during the celebration.

The police has detained Anil for questioning as the entire incident occurred in his presence and he was the one who informed the police about the death.
