Second cut- off students hit by fees glitch

Despite meeting cut- off criteria set by Delhi University colleges, hundreds of students have been unable to complete their admission formalities because of the newlyintroduced online payment system.

Many worried students reached the office of the dean of students’ welfare on Tuesday, saying they were facing problems while paying their fees online.

Zakir Husain College, according to a university official, saw a brief moment of chaos over the issue.

Ram Lal Anand College, Motilal Nehru College and Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College were among the other colleges where the students faced problems while trying to pay the fees online.

This year for the first time, the Delhi University moved to a full- fledged online admission process. Until last year, admission fees were accepted at the college counters.

At the DSW office on Tuesday noon, several students who secured admission able to make the payment. The payment link didn’t open,” Divyam Sharma, who was accompanied by his elder brother, told The Asian Age.

Currently, the Delhi University colleges are admitting students under the third cut- off list. The students have until Wednesday to enrol themselves.

For the last several days, Manjot Singh, a student from Patna, approached the varsity authorities with a similar problem. He has made the cut in S. G. N. D. Khalsa College, the university official said.

The S. G. N. D. Khalsa College principal, Dr Man Mohan Kaur, told this newspaper that Manjot Singh’s issue has been resolved.

“I spoke to him yesterday. All he needed to do was to submit an application to the DSW office,” she said.

“The university is working on such a largescale. Such problems do happen one out of six times, even while making payments on eBay,” Dr Kaur said. The Delhi University colleges enrol nearly 60,000 students every year.
